LECTURE DAYS

Three lecture days will be held on 15 October, 12 November and 10 December 2010. These lecture days provide the students with an introduction to the UNISCA course and will prepare them for the actual conference week in (7th-14th) January 2011. Students will gain knowledge on the workings of the UN and its committees. The lectures will also provide an impression of the workings of a Model United Nations.

The lecture days are, in combination with the graded assignments, the most important part of the preparation for the conference in January. The days consist of lectures and workshops to develop the knowledge and skills required for the conference. Note that attendance of the lecture days is compulsory. Not attending the lecture days will influence your grades, since the lecture days are designed to prepare the student for the graded assignments. Moreover it will of course influence your preparation for the conference.

For international students who, for practical reasons, are unable to attend all the lecture days, videotaped lectures and presentation sheets will be made available to compensate for this as much as possible (http://Blackboard.ic.uva.nl). Apart from the academic reasons for attending the lecture days, they also form the perfect opportunity to get to know your fellow participants.
